When asked to be Lay Rector of #53, my first thought was, I can't do this !! Having asked for time to think about it, I realised that this is not something that I would undertake alone, and that the Holy Spirit would be with me every step of the way. In my favour was the fact that we'd be using a new venue, Judd's Folly Hotel near Faversham so I could not be compared with my forbears at The Friars !

The Training Days were brilliant. The Team rapidly bonded and worked hard together and were determined to make the new venue a success. As Lay Rector, I could not have asked for a better Team.

Before the weekend, concerns had been expressed that Judd's Folly was not soaked in prayer like The Friars, Aylesford. The only way that I can describe it, was that the Holy Spirit was waiting for us at Judd's Folly. The 'Pop-Up Chapel' was an amazing place to worship. It felt as if the conservatory area had been designed with Cursillo in mind. The weekend was filled with joy, laughter and a spiritual awakening - it was an amazing success . The Pilgrims and Team were humbled and encouraged in the knowledge that Cursillistas from within our Diocese, and wider afield were praying for us every step of the way. Looking back on Canterbury #53, Judd's Folly Hotel was definitely a 'Spiritual Bubble'.

To be Lay Rector is an honour and a privilege. Canterbury #53 was one of the most incredible weekends of my life, the memories of which will remain with me forever.
